A quick one while he's away

I'm going to write a decent post about both kids' school years, now that they're over (most schools in Phoenix finish the week before Memorial Day, as that's when it starts to get really hot), but before that (it'll probably be up tomorrow), I just thought I'd share another good quote from Norah.

Her birthday is coming up (you all bought her presents, right?) and she knows it (it's 22 June, by the way). So everything she sees on commercials piques her interest. She told Krys that she wanted something for her birthday, and Krys said, "You seem to be getting a lot for your birthday." To which Norah responded:

"That's what birthdays do!"

Well, of course they do. She didn't say angrily or snottily, which would have earned her a rebuke. She said it more self-evidently, as if she couldn't believe we didn't know that. We keep telling her that she won't get everything in the world for her birthday - we'll see if she remembers that in a few weeks.

(The title of this post, by the way, refers to an old song by The Who. I don't even like the song, but I thought it made a nice title of the post.)
